Opera at the Verona Arena
The world famous Verona Arena Opera season starts in June.
In the magical setting of the Roman amphitheater, the 2019 Festival schedule is full of marvelous staging and international performers, protagonists of the shows planned for the Arena.
The Verona Arena is easy to reach from our hotel: after just a half-hour by car, you will find yourself in the heart of Verona. Park in one of the city center’s comfortable lots and in a few steps you will reach the Arena. Here a unique atmosphere awaits you: the warm air of summer evenings, the soft lights of the Arena, not to mention the most beautiful music and singing the world has to offer.
The June opera calendar for the Verona Arena 2019 Festival promises exciting new projects and excellent performers!
On June 21, La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi takes the stage with the new vision of the great Franco Zeffirelli. Repeat performance on June 28. Please note that on August 1, the part of Giorgio Germont will be played by the great Plácido Domingo.
On June 22 and 27, Giuseppe Verdi's Aida will be performed, a symbol of the Verona Arena with almost 700 performances. The historic staging is by Gianfranco de Bosio, inspired by that of 1913, the first of many interpretations. On July 28, the performance will be joined by an exceptional orchestra conductor: Plácido Domingo.
On June 29, Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore will be directed by Franco Zeffirelli, with evocative staging by the Arena’s most experienced opera director.
